We have opened our doors for membership in the society. We now accept individuals with at least a degree or HND in Virology, Microbiology, Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Medicine, Medical Laboratory Sciences, Pharmacy, Biology, Genetics, or Science Laboratory Technology with majors in Virology, Microbiology, or Biochemistry.
Virologists from all over the world are welcome to apply. So, if you are a Virologist, a student of Virology, or simply passionate about Virology, consider joining NSVir to benefit from its numerous activities.
The membership application process can be completed online. The form should be filled out without any attachments, and the appropriate payment should be made. Documents and a passport picture may only be required for verification upon approval of membership. We expect our prospective members to provide accurate information.
At the moment, interested individuals can apply for full membership or as a Student Member. The membership committee meets every six months to review the status of our members. Those considered to have registered below their status may be recommended for upgrading to Fellowship status.

Full member class: : Application fees: Twelve thousand naira ($8.00 USD) plus annual dues of six thousand naira ($4.0 USD).
Student Member: Application fees: five thousand naira only ($3.50 USD). No payment of annual dues.
Fellowship is a major milestone in the professional career of a virologist. A person may be admitted into the fellowship class of membership, earn the right to use FNSVir after their name, and enjoy the additional prestige that comes with it.
Applicants in this category must have a minimum of ten years of cognate post-qualification experience or must have attained the status of a Professor, Chief Lecturer/Researcher, or its equivalent.
They must have a postgraduate qualification in Virology or at least three years past their professional degree (FNMC, FRCPath, Ph.D., M.D., D.V.M., MPH, M.Sc., or equivalent experience).
Persons without these qualifications but with a track record of publications in virology or extensive working experience in microbiology, biotechnology, molecular biology, or biochemistry may also be considered.
Admission to this class of membership is exclusively carried out by the membership admission committee. Members are selected from the class of full members.
i. A full member must have a postgraduate qualification in Virology or at least three years past his/her professional degree (FNMC, FRCPath, Ph.D., M.D., D.V.M., MPH, M.Sc., or equivalent experience). Full member status can also be accorded to persons with a degree in Virology, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, or other related fields, with a track record of publications in Virology or extensive working experience in Microbiology, Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, or Biochemistry.
A person admitted into the full class of membership shall earn the right to use MNSVir after his name.
ii. Limited Membership Route
NSVir has opened its doors for membership in the society. We now accept persons with at least a degree or HND in Virology, Microbiology, Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Medicine, Medical Laboratory Sciences, Pharmacy, Biology, Genetics, and Science Laboratory Technology with majors in Virology, Microbiology, or Biochemistry.
This opportunity will lapse after December 1, 2024.
Application fees: Twelve thousand naira ($8.00 USD) plus annual dues of six thousand naira only ($4.00 USD).
We encourage undergraduate and graduate students to become members of NSV as they will find it very fulfilling. We accept students majoring in Virology, Medicine and Surgery, Veterinary Medicine, Microbiology, Biotechnology, Genetics, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Medical Laboratory Sciences, Pharmacy, Biology, and Science Laboratory Technology with majors in Virology, Microbiology, or Biochemistry.

No payment of annual dues

Automatic upgrading to member status upon graduation and completion of our six-module virology course and the application of bioinformatics in virology work
Honorary Fellowship is awarded by the NSV to individuals as recognition for their outstanding contributions to the field of virology. Honorary Fellows are entitled to use the letters FNSVir (Hon) after their names.
Fellows (Distinguished overseas members).
NSV may on special occasions admit (by invitation) distinguished overseas members of the Fellowship of the Society. They will be exempted from the payment of entrance fees, annual subscription and any other levies that may be imposed by NSV. Fellows are entitled to use the letters FNSVir after their names.
