01. Annual General Meeting(AGM)

The major activity of The Nigerian Society for Virology (NSV) is the annual general meeting / scientific conference.
Our annual general meeting for 2020 could not hold due to the global lock down. We have Scheduled the 2021 event for 3-5th of November 2021. The venue will be made public as soon as the committee completes the arrangement.
At the meeting, you can:
Learn about cutting-edge research in virology
Interact with other Scientists interested in virology
Job network
Attend educational and career development workshops
Develop leadership and presentation skills
Earn travel grants and other awards

02. World Hepatitis Day: Wednesday, 28th July 2021

THEME: WORLD HEPATITIS DAY (WHD) CELEBRATION, OPENING OF VIRO-BIO RESEARCH LABORATORY AND LAUNCHING OF SIXTY MILLION NAIRA EQUIPMENT APPEAL FUND.
VENUE: VIRO-BIO RESEARCH LABORATORY, FACULTY OF BIOLOGICAL SCIENCES, UNIVERSITY OF CALABAR.
The World Hepatitis Day (WHD) is 28th July of every year. This is a day endorsed by the World Health Organization (WHO) to bring the global community under a single theme to raise awareness of the global burden of viral hepatitis and to influence real change. Hepatitis is one of four disease-specific global awareness days officially endorsed by the World Health Organization (WHO).

03. World AIDS Day. Wednesday 1st December, 2021.

World AIDS Day takes place on the 1st December each year. It's an opportunity for people worldwide to unite in the fight against HIV, to show support for people living with HIV, and to commemorate those who have died from an AIDS-related illness. Founded in 1988, World AIDS Day was the first ever global health day.
NSV has a standing committee for WAD. The full plan for this event shall be released in October.

04. 2021 AGM/scientific conference

The 2021 AGM/scientific conference is billed for 3-5th November, 2020.
Venue: The Venue will be communicated before March 2021.
Theme: Emerging Viral Diseases (EVDs) and re-emerging Viral Diseases (RE-EVDs) in Nigeria: Finding a functional solution.
Guest Speaker: The Guest Speaker will be communicated before March 2021.
This is a forum for all Virologists, Microbiologists, Doctors and all other Scientists to interact.

05. Attend our training / workshops for 2021

Our training programmes, seminars and workshops schedules for 2020 could not hold due to the lock down. We sincerely apologise to the scores of person who had indicated interest to participate. All who pre-registered for these events had a full refund of their money. The Training and Workshop Committee will soon make public their work plan for 2021. We look forward to the active participation of our members and other interested members of the public.
